9 months

i am shocked that my baby is 9 months old! he continues to delight in new things each day, giggling, walking with the assistance of a push behind walker (video to come), dancing to classic hip-hop with mom and dad...he is such a good natured babe too. goes to strangers with no problem (as in strangers to him, he must get the vibe that mom or dad know the person), is totally content when i leave him with either of his nanas. poor guy still has no teeth but is devouring food regardless! loves to feed himself and make a great mess for the dog to clean up...liam is now jake's favorite person! he plays the piano (video to come), and sings and goodness does he babble alot, he is going to be a talker! we went with the family to charleston for thanksgiving which was so much fun. we had a full house for a few days, and then the rice trio got a few days alone on the isle of palms. overall liam travelled well, however he did not sleep the whole ride as he used to at 2 and 4 months of age. he napped about an hour each way and then had to be entertained. it made the trip go a lot faster though, playing and singing in the back seat ; ) i had hoped to get some photos of him in the snow, but it was just too damn cold to pluck him down in it for the sake of a memory. maybe next time when it isn't in the teens! we are looking forward to his first christmas and wish you all a very merry one! relish in the comfort of your family and friends and remember the spirit of the season...celebrating and sharing, not just getting loot.
love to all, kelly, will and liam

8 months

well, yet another month has flown by along with the seasons. we are having a fun fall filled with afternoon strolls by the lake, a visit to the pumpkin patch and a trip to visit family and the river in brevard. liam is way too much fun, he enjoys being chased around the house, mimicking your tones with high and low pitches, saying mamamamma and is full of giggles and smiles. still no teeth, but he loves to eat and is ready for anything other than the pureed stuff he has been eating for the past few months. we are certainly staying busy keeping up with him as he cruises the house and stands up on anything he can find to grab on to. he has even begun to move from one stationary object to another, momentarily standing on his own. he loves bath time and gets so excited he giggles and dances at the sight of the tub filling and his toys waiting for him to dive in. he is clapping, slyly smiling when told no, flirting with any lady he meets. just the other day he was rubbing on a large Buddha belly in the house and turned to look at me and said "ooohhhhhmmmmmm", it was pretty cute. this kid is going to have one awesome personality! we are taking a mini vacay for turkey day and will post photos when we get back. happy thanksgiving to all!

sweet clara with liam. she has been a member of our family since before i was born. what a blessing for her now to love on my child as she once did me.

7 months

oh where to begin...liam has been crawling all over the place since his 6 month birthday. now he is over and under anything in his way and pulling himself up on anything taller that he is. i am so amazed every day at the new discoveries he has in his tiny world. he is a sweet, snuggly wiggle worm with such a fun personality. he began clapping in delight this week as well as saying ma ma ma ma...music to my ears ; ) aunt alli came to visit from denver and has a new fan, liam adored her after the initial intro period. she brought him an ugly doll, which is pretty stinking cute when he cuddles up to it in his crib. we try to get out every day and have taken lots of afternoon walks at beaver lake, trips to the tailgate market and visits with family and friends. liam has a funny obsession with beer bottles, and due to that has ended up with a mouthful of foam a time or two from grabbing it too soon after a big person has sipped on the ice cold bottle he so loves to gum. he clapped and grinned the last time he got a good mouthful, that's my boy. we couldn't be more smitten parents. we delight in each new day with our son and love to see the world through his eyes. here are some pictures of the past month. happy fall to you all! love kelly, will and liam

6 months!!

a good nap is always needed after a long time playing and crawling around

Wow, I simply cannot believe that my little man is half a year old today! It has been the most amazing 6 months of our lives. We learn something new every day about parenting, which is quite challenging at times! We also see daily changes in our son and delight in his curiosity, alertness and personality. In the past month he has been eating more solid foods. Avocado is a big hit (which doesn't surprise me as I can eat them right out if the shell) as well as apples, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, peas. He enjoys drinking water, especially if you "feed" it to him from a straw. He is finally getting the hang of a sippy cup. Liam has been on the move, too! He started out rocking back and forth on his knees, with pure pleasure for finding a new way to move. This week he has moved on to scooting and crawling, giving me a run for my money! Therefore the babyproofing has begun around here. Before I know it he will be at the other end of the house in the blink of an eye! He is sitting unassisted for short spurts as long as he is distracted, but there are still faceplants and sideways topples. It is such an amazing thing to watch the development of a little human. We are so blessed to have Liam in our lives, I can't remember life before him and can't imagine it without him.

Hope everyone has had a great summer! I look forward to a colorful and cool fall.
Lots of love and hugs to each of you, xoxoxo Kelly, Will and Liam

5 months

Liam is a week shy of 5 months! It is so hard to believe how fast time is moving. I found a video of him when he was 1 day old, he was so tiny, and I remember being instantly in love with him and his little noises (I tried to poat it but failed). Today his noises are MUCH louder, we have quite a monkey in our house! He is so entertaining...eating his fingers and toes, as well as rice cereal. This month we move on to veggies, and I am looking forward to the faces that will follow each new taste. He is a champ at rolling over in both directions and tries very hard to sit up. He is ready to be on the move and gets frustrated when all he can do is lay on his back or tummy. I have a feeling he will be sitting up by the end of the month for sure. We took a trip to the beach and had about 5 days to relax. Liam got to meet some new friends and have his first swim in a pool. We attempted the beach, but there were many jellyfish in the water, and I didn't chance it...although we did get the toes in. Back on home turf we have had fun swimming with Karo and Nash, cook outs with our families, topped off with his first trip to Mt. Mitchell! Here are some photos of the last few weeks. He is a very expressive little man and is changing so much each week. Love to all! xoxo Kelly, Will and Liam

4 months

I have not been quick with the camera or posts lately! Liam has been keeping me busy these days. He is rolling over, smiling a TON, beginning to show signs of giggling (which I feel will be a full deep laugh very soon). He discovered his toes, and then the next week how to get them to his mouth. He is working on some teeth somewhere deep in his gums...which is setting off drool bombs (as seen below) and lots of mouthing but not too much fussing...yet. Overall, the Rice's are wonderful and happy and healthy. Hope all of you are as well!

Happy Father's Day

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! We took Liam to a family wedding on a farm in Madison County on Saturday, and we had a blast! He was so well behaved the whole day, even sacking out for a nap right in the middle of the meal and toast (more like a roast)! Will seemed to have a good first Father's Day, I cooked him breakfast and we visited with close friends and family. Hard to believe that Liam is 15 weeks tomorrow! He is growing and changing so fast, learning to do new things everyday. Today my mom heard him giggle for the first time, which was priceless. Will got a Flip video cam for Father's Day, so we will be posting videos soon with some of these "firsts" for Liam. Happy Summer to all! Love....Kelly, Will and Liam
